Hotel Triglav Bled
Undeniably one of the prettiest places in Europe, Lake Bled has long been the centre of attraction in Slovenia. Until recently, we were unconvinced by the standard of accommodation on offer, but some new additions have changed all that. Hotel Triglav Bled is the first...
This is a Goldilocks hotel, comprising just twenty-two rooms - in other words, not too small, not too big... but just right. Among the doubles, suites and one single, most have views of the lake and many have balconies.
Having been refurbished very recently (and in fact, completely), the guest rooms have the best modern facilities, plenty of luggage space and the comfiest of beds.
The restaurant is top notch and benefits from the recent (and sad) demise of Vila Bled, as the chef was (pun coming!) poached as they fell. Andrej Rovan is on a mission to promote the tastes and styles of traditional Slovenian cooking... without the feeling of dreary heaviness that often comes with it!
Most of the ingredients are locally sourced (salads and herbs from the hotel's own garden) from local farmers, or straight from the Adriatic on the same day. All are seasonal too.
Furthermore, the restaurant is a delight to dine in, as it has panoramic views across one of Europe's most beautiful lakes.

In the summer, shorts, frocks, T-shirts, sandals (or sturdy shoes or boots if you're off walking), something warmer for the evenings and something waterproof in case it rains. In winter: wrap up!
More than welcome.

Summers are warm - July and August are the hottest months, with daytime temperatures around 25C, while during spring and autumn you can expect around 15-20C.
Winters can be very cold indeed, with deep snow sometimes between December and March.
